Speaking of Time - Luxury Writing In The Future Or Past

This is a feature that I really didn’t know was available here on Word Press until just today. You can pre-date your blogs to a future posting time. Talk about your time-saving techniques to keep a person on schedule! I’ve always known you could post-date a blog post to an earlier date, but it never dawned on me to check and see if it worked in the ‘future’ capacity. Tested it today on one of my other blogs and wow, it worked.

For those of you out there wanting to maintain a schedule that’s a big bonus. For me, it’s cool to be sure, but since I’m online just about everyday, probably not really necessary. I have occasionally used the draft function to write a few blogs and keep them in standby for days I was a bit ‘blank’. I guess ‘timing’ them could give me the edge as well.
Timing is everything in life, and keeping track of schedules, appointments, and the such takes more sometimes than a Timberland… of course, those help too, and they’re a lot prettier than techno-geeky methods of keeping track.

Tommy Lee Jones and Tag Heuer

You gotta love Tommy Lee Jones. No matter what role he plays, his rugged, yet good-natured attitude shines through and becomes that part. I think my first real knowledge of him as an actor came with “Backdraft”. His role in that was so challenging, being the unsuspected villian had to be a stretch for him, because you can just see it in his features that he’s not the villianous type of guy. My favorite roll of his, of course, is probably the “Men In Black” series roll. He seems to have a terrific personality, but it’s obvious he has great taste in watches. He and Tag Heuer make a great combination. Rugged…Sturdy…Dependable…and Handsome. Don’t forget handsome.

Historical Time: George Bush, and Baume & Mercier

The historical impact of timepieces is really intriguing me lately. Ever since I saw the blurb for the Presidential Timepiece exhibit being held at the National Watch and Clock Museum is holding I can’t stop wondering what types of watches former Presidents wore. I still want to know what George Washington wears.
I did find out something quite interesting this morning. It seems Mr. George Bush, the senior, prefers Timex. Now you’d think someone of his stature would go for a more up-scale watch, however even his simple tastes allow for the fact that the one he used to wear was special made for him by a former classmate that worked for Timex. Someone stole it. Can you imagine? Stealing the President’s watch? Now that’s a gutsy crook.
I also found out this morning in my wanderings, that I was wrong in my assumption the other day about what type of watch Bill Clinton would wear–but not by much. Although he started his term in office in a simple Timex, he soon graduated to more luxurious timepieces. It seems Mr. Clinton has a penchant for big watch faces, and have multiple dials, I did figure that, just had the wrong brand of preferenc. However, this Cartier is one of his ‘less expensive’ watches, still valued about $12,000.00 and he has quite a selection of many different brand names in his ‘watch wardrobe’.
Leave it to Bill to be stylin’ with the big boys.

What Do Tag Heuer and Mercedes Benz Have In Common?

STYLE! … oh, and a kick-butt commercial. Take a look at the sleek lines of both of these elegant designs:
If that doesn’t make you want to run out and buy a new Tag Heuer SLR for your wrist, and a new Mercedes for your garage, it will sure make you drool over the prospect. By the way, that party at the end, that’s for all the folks that buy both at once… just kidding, wouldn’t that be a cool perk though?
Watching the last 1/4 and seeing that watch assemble on screen, gave me a ‘mind-blow’ moment, too–do you ever really think about the complex little machine on your wrist? I guess that’s only me, maybe. I mean it boggles when you really think about it. For me, what I know about cars is pretty limited to stick a key in the slot, twist, and stomp on the pedal… if it moves, I’m good. That’s sort of the way I think about a watch too. Oh, I’m not talking about the elegance, or style, that’s distinguishable at a glance. I’m talking about what makes it ‘tick’. If I look at it, and it tells me it’s 6 p.m. and it IS 6 p.m.–I’m good.
It’s the way we, and I know I’m generalizing here, but a lot of people are like me in the ‘insert, twist, stomp’ category, take the marvelous technology we have all around us for granted.
Here’s a thank you to all of the ingenious folks around the world that create those products we can use to make every minute of our day better without having a clue as to the hard work and dedication it takes to build them.

Watches And The President - Bill Clinton

Here’s an interesting blurb for you if you happen to live in the Pennsylvania area: Time in Office: An Exhibit of Presidential Timepieces opens Friday, April 18 at the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia. Through the inclusion of objects from many of America’s presidents, the exhibit explores presidents’ attitudes towards time and the significant events that occurred during their “time in office.” The exhibit consists of watches, clocks and other horological items as well as images, stories and objects from the presidents’ years in the White House.

If you happen to be in PA, check it out. It runs through December this year. It’s pretty cool, I think. It really got me to thinking about how important watches are now, and have been through history. Watches: in whatever form they have taken–from pocket watch to wristwatch, maybe even as far back as the sundial, keep us on track. They are the way we measure time, and the way we schedule our days. How lost do you feel when you realize you don’t know what time it is?
Have you ever woke up and not been able to decide if it were a.m. or p.m.? I have, and I know countless others have shared that experience. It’s incredibly disconcerting. Until you figure it out, you honestly do not know which way to turn. Of course, there’s that fear that you slept through work, school, or the latest episode of Desperate Housewives. That’s how important time is to us though. Without a way to track the time chaos exists in our lives.
Reading the above mention of the Presidential Timepiece display got me to wondering what type of watch Presidents have worn through the years. I’m sure I saw a picture somewhere of Benjamin Franklin with a watch fob hanging from his vest. That would indicate a pocket watch. When did wristwatches become the fashion style? That’s something to look up. I’d like to see that display. Hopefully it will come to Chicago so I can. While I can’t really imagine the types of watch George Washington, or Theodore Roosevelt might have worn, I can pretty much imagine the type Bill Clinton might wear. Something flashy, yet sophisticated like the Concord.
I think Barak Obama would be more conservative, in a liberal sort of way. Maybe choosing something along the lines of the Bulova Millennia. You can tell by my choices of President’s which way I lean right? Well, I’ve liked some Republicans, too. I don’t bother to think about what type of watch Bush - the younger wears though. Can he even tell time? Ah, I suppose. Even a five-year-old can grasp the ‘big hand, little hand’ concept. George - the elder however, would probably wear a very ultra-sophisticated timepiece. Maybe something like the Baume and Mercier Capeland.
Whatever they wear, you can sure bet they’re always going to be on-time.

A Hunky Combination To Watch - Brad Pitt and Tag Heuer Make For a Timely Combination

Tag Heuer and Sexy Brad Pitt

When hunky Brad Pitt sports a watch like the Tag Heuer Carrera you know women all over the world are swooning over that stylish piece–and I’m referring to the watch. As women faint, men hustle to the store to find a similar item so that they can be as ‘hot’ as Mr. Pitt. Well, they try anyway, bless their souls.
It’s easier now, than ever to ‘be like Brad’. Men don’t have to travel all over the city to find accessories like a celebrity, all they have to do is point and click. It’s all online. The world is wide open now. Designer watches come in beautifully wrapped packages right through the mail. I doubt Brad does it that way. He probably has his own personal shoppers go out and get him the accessory of the day. He probably has a dresser drawer full of expensive designer watches, one to go with each super-tight T-shirt he chooses for the day.
I’m not sure why he bothers, women aren’t looking at his shirt. Most probably faint before they get past his eyes.
Hey guys, don’t run all over town searching for the watch to make you look like Brad. Just check out the collection of Tag Heuer Carreras starting at $1300.00 to get a quick start on style.

WLG to Distribute Franc Vila Luxury Watches

The newly formed W Luxury Group has signed an agreement to be the exclusive North American distributor of Spanish watchmaker Franc Vila’s Swiss-made high-end luxury timepieces.
“I’ve an admirer of Franc Vila’s timepieces and am impressed by the unique design,†said Michael Wunderman, WLG president. “Not only do I like the exquisite timepieces, but also the man behind them is an incredible visionary, a rare and exciting combination.â€
The WLG, based in Irvine, Cal., is owned and operated by Wunderman and Johnny Wizman, its vice-president. (The ‘W’ in the group title stands for their last names.) Wunderman is also president of Swiss luxury brand Corum USA, also in Irvine, and Wizman, his cousin, is its vice president of sales. However, Wunderman told JCK that the WLG is separate from Corum USA and not part of it.
The WLG is in discussions, said Wunderman, to acquire U.S. distribution of several other luxury brands, though no agreements had been reached, yet.
Franc Vila, a watchmaker, designer and collector based in Geneva, Switzerland, created his brand in 2004 and introduced his first collection of haute horlogerie mechanical watches, with complications, at Baselworld 2005. He says his watches are influenced by the contemporary world. His new skeleton tourbillon, for example, is inspired by architecture and modern art.
The timepieces are produced in limited editions of 8, 48, or 88 units, all with Vila’s ‘Esprit Unique†case design. They feature grande complication movements (such as his Cuatro Tourbillon Dial-Side Column Wheel Monopusher chronograph) and cutting-edge materials, such as Vila’s own “Lightnium†alloy. The price range is $20,000 - $500,000.
North American distribution is very exclusive and limited to the “most prestigious jewelry stores.†The WLG expects to have approximately 10 points of sale by 2009. The target audience, Wizman said, “the crème de la crème of watch buyers and collectors.â€
