Bear Grylls leaves his Breitling watch for Casio Waveceptor Watch

Okay, first just let us say we love Breitling luxury watches; we’d pick a Breitling luxury watch over a Casio watch any day.  But, we also like Casio watches, we have nothing against them at all and they have some really nice and innovative watches for lesser prices, so I guess in this economy that’s a good thing…

So what am I talking about? Well, Bear Grylls, star of Man vs. Wild, has a new season out.  Bear Grylls has, for the majority of the time, has always worn a Breitling Emergency watch on and off camera… so why the switch to Casio Dynamic Wave Ceptor?

Well, we don’t know, thanks to the investigative work of Ariel Adams author of aBlogtoRead.com, we figured out exactly what was on Bear’s wrist because it was hard to zoom in on his luxury watch watching television.  We understand that a $300 watch is way more feasible than a $3,000 watch, we understand that his fans probably can’t afford a Breitling watch, but have you watched the show? He puts his self in some seriously dangerous situations! So let’s compare the Casio Dynamic Wave Ceptor to the Breitling Emergency Watch and see exactly which one is better in a dangerous situation:

Diane von Furstenberg brings a new “Sutra” to the runway

The runway is changing… from fashion laptops to luxury watches, the clothes aren’t the only thing people are watching.  This year at Diane von Furstenberg’s Fall 2009/Winter 2010 ready to wear collection Diane clad her models in her new sutra Sports watches from her H. Stern collection as well as her Sutra bracelets and “Power Rings”.

The DVF Sutra Sport Watch comes in black or white and has a Swiss quartz movement, clear sapphire crystal case, asymmetric design, triple looping calfskin and black watch face.

The DVF Sutra Bracelet comes in 18 K gold and each link is engraved with Diane’s mantra: “harmony, harmony, integrity, peace, abundance, love, knowledge, laughter, freedom and creativity.”

Luxury watches have always been fashionable and respected in the fashion industry, but now their popularity is allowing them to be shine as loud as the clothing!

Reactor Gamma water sport watch defines extreme

If you haven’t heard of Reactor luxury watches, it’s okay… but you should know they hold the claim to creating the best sports watch possible and one of their claims to fame is the Reactor Gamma water sports watch which has the thickest ever application of Superluminova for “extreme low-light performance”.  Okay…so what?

Well what about a 10 year power supply, 300 M depth rating and anti-reflective coated crystal for perfect visibility under water?

Seriously people…Reactor takes their best build claim to the extreme me. Europa Star recently reported that Reactor’s water sport watch was put to an extreme torture-level stress.  They attacked the Reactor Gamma water sport watch to a shipwreck submerged in 300 feet of saltwater off the coast of Florida.  But get this… it’s going to remain there for 3 years!

If they pull this off, I don’t think anyone will doubt that they have the best built sports watch….TAG Heuer and Breitling Emergency watch…. watch out, a new extreme watch kid is on the block.

Icelink 6Timezone Mechanical Watch

Last month we discussed IceLink releasing their jaw dropping 6TimezoneSnow collection in 2008. Well its 2009 and IceLink added some sleekness to the 6Timezone watch and made it mechanical….hence the name Icelink 6Timezone Mechanical Watch.

However, IceLink is still a world first by creating the first luxury watch with a rectangular mechanical movement with 5 time zones. It’s available in white or pink gold and it powers 5 time zones simultaneously.  The movement is hand-wound mechanical with a 50 hour power reserve.  Functions of the IceLink 6Timezone Mechanical include hours, minutes, seconds, and four time zones with day/night indicators.

The case is 62.7 mm by 40.2 mm with or without diamonds and in a choice of pink or white gold.  The screw down curved case back has two openings which allow the wearer or admirer to see the mechanical movement.  The case however, isn’t complete without the 5 crowns and push pieces all in 18K gold.  The dial is created with a brushed metal effect with the local time at the 3 o’clock position.  The dial also has the four timezones, a local time, and a second window zone which is where the “6 Timezones” come into play.

Lastly, a black crocodile bracelet with a pink or white gold folding strap completes the look of the IceLink 6Timezone luxury watch.

Stunning Women’s Luxury Watches Part 2

Women’s watches are commonly considered a favorite among watch makers because of the artistic freedom that can be used to create a finished timepiece.  Yesterday, in part 1 of Stunning Women’s Luxury Watches, we talked about the Chopard Happy Sport Ladies Watch which included 58 black diamonds and 40 rubies.  Today our choice is a stunning yet more simplistic ladies watch, the   Bvlgari Bzero 1 Ladies Watch with a stainless steel case, pink mother of pearl dial and orange leather strap.

bvlgari-luxury-watch

Bvlgari is known for their ability to incorporate jewelry design in to watches since the 1940’s.  This particular Bvlgari watch has a stainless steel case engraved with the bold Bvlgari signature. The dial, made of pink mother-of-pearl, has the Bvlgari signature at the 12 o’clock marker and a label at the 6 o’clock marker.  An interesting aspect of this Bvlgari watch is the triangular hour makers that seem to be pointing towards the center of the dial.

Complete with an orange leather bracelet, silver tone hour markers and hand indicators, scratch resistant sapphire crystal, precise Swiss Quartz movement, and deployment buckle clasp, this luxury watch is simple yet stunning. This luxury watch is also available in a range of strap colors.

Stunning Women’s Luxury Watches Part 1

Some luxury watches are just too beautiful not to mention, especially when designed for women. Many watchmakers will tell you that women’s watches give them pleasure because they can play with many colors, materials, jewels, and embellishments.

One watch that fits this equation perfectly is the Chopard Happy Sport ladies Watch with 18 K while gold diamond dial with 5 floating black diamonds and rubies and deep and luxurious red leather strap.

What distinctively stand out about this Chopard luxury watch is the ruby cabochon set crown and matching lugs that seem to tie together the entire look of the watch seamlessly without taking away from the case and dial.

The case itself is white gold set with black diamonds that envelop the bezel and screws for a luxurious look.  Additionally, the white diamond dial includes stunning elements; blue swordshape hands tick away the Roman numeral hours, 5 floating diamonds represent the materials used during the watch making process, and a diamond dial complements the entire case.

Other luxurious features include a screwed in case back, ruby studded dial, scratch resistant sapphire crystal, precise Swiss quartz movement, pin buckle clasp, and 30 meters of water resistance. However, the amazing feature is the total number of diamonds and gems which include 58 black diamonds and 40 rubies (1.58 ct of diamonds and 2.00 ct of rubies).
